Linux Mint will not detect the monitor - Ive tried rebooting with the monitor on and active, on and in sleep mode, off, whatever, it makes no difference. Displaylink Linux Mint Driver V 435Pertinent info: Im running the proprietary Nvidia driver v 435.21 I plugged the laptop into my TV with the same HDMI cable and it works fine, so I can confirm that its not the HDMI port or the cable. The monitor worked last time I used it (albeit with a different laptop) so I have no reason to suspect its the culprit. I bought the HDMI-DisplayPort adapter today, so Id be surprised if its broken. A few threads I found on LinuxMints official support forums mentioned that adapters can cause issues like this, but I didnt find any resolution. It was actually a hassle getting the right Zenbook because the specs on their website are not explicit. So I managed to get the notebook that supports DisplayPort over USB3 Type C, and it works with Windows but in linux, it cant detect a 2nd monitor. Share Report Save level 1 8 months ago I had a similar issue and it was the adapter. Even Macos had some problems. I eventually did get some stuff happening but the resolution wouldnt change so I spent the 59 and bought a proper cable. I play with my system so much so cant point you in the right direction. I have received really good help on the Mint forums but they will tell you to get a new cable for sure. ![]() First of all, I installed DisplayLink yesterday but I couldnt see any results. Ive no idea if its working properly and sorting out this issue or if its irrelevant. After installing DisplayLink, I plugged my screen in via another port connector out of the USB3 type C connector on the other side of the notebook, and it worked. The HDMI connector via the DisplayPort USB3 type C on the left-hand side of the notebook still didnt work. Then this morning I connected the screen unintentionally via this non-functioning connector because it has the network LAN which the other connector lacks. Suddenly the screen went on and Mint handled it all as if all my troubleshooting yesterday was for nothing. ![]() I just hope it doesnt stop working for no clear reason.
